Fans React to Star Wars Poster: New Death Star? Where’s Luke?
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which opens in theaters Dec. 18, stars John Boyega as Finn and Daisy Ridley as Rey. Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher reprise their roles from the previous films. The official poster was unveiled Sunday and the new trailer is confirmed to debut during halftime on Monday Night Football.
Smaller pieces of the trailer itself have been released via Disney.
The release of the poster has caused a few eyebrows to be raised. Above Boyega appears to be a Death Star-like superweapon. Also, Luke Skywalker (played by Mark Hamill) is 100% missing from the poster.
Fan reaction from the “Star Wars Geeks Unite” Facebook group include:
Kyle Mikesell: I love the poster. It’s both very busy, yet leaves a lot of mystery. Who’s the alien next to R2? Why does Mark have first billing, yet we don’t see Luke?
Steven Shinder: I find it odd that Luke Skywalker and C-3PO’s red arm are absent from the poster. I suppose that this is just for the casual movie-goers who have not kept up with some of the news.
Victor Ramirez: I love it, heck, my wife and kids love it. It has gotten us super pumped up for Dec. 18th.
Michael McNamara: The new weapon has me nervous they’ll recycle the death star for a third time.
